The record books have been rewritten once again by Messi, with no player in MLS having ever been so productive across a single 90-minute appearance. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner is, however, accustomed to delivering moments of magic and has attempted to steer clear of the limelight.
WHAT GRESSEL SAID
Gressel admits as much, with the USMNT star telling the podcast of how his iconic team-mate reacted to achieving another notable career first: “Out of habit, I go around the locker room after a game and dab everyone up with a high-five or a hug. I get to Leo and I gave him a high-five and I was like ‘five assists today?’ and he was like ‘yeah,’ all shy and looking down, but smiling shyly, it was a cool moment to see him so humble and to look almost embarrassed.”
