Speaking on talkSPORT, former Cardiff manager Neil Warnock has delivered a ringing endorsement of Jack Grealish’s chances of playing for Manchester United.
What did he say?
The Aston Villa captain has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent weeks and months following an impressive campaign in the Premier League that has seen him score six times and provide a further five assists in the competition.
Reports have claimed that United are very much interested in signing him in either the January or upcoming summer transfer windows, and Warnock has now revealed the 24-year-old would be perfect for what the Red Devils currently need.

He said: “I do love him. I think he’s a horrible little so-and-so when you’re playing against him because you know as soon as somebody breathes on him he is going to go down, but his ability is fantastic. If Villa go down I think he’s good enough to be a Man United player.
“(James) Maddison is the more complete player regarding box-to-box, but I think Jack just gives you that little bit more special magic in the final third. That’s why I talk about Man United – he is that kind of player. Like how (Eric) Cantona played for Man United, I think he would strut his business there. What I like about his game since we played them in the Championship, I think he has matured and he is so much better now.”
Touch of magic
As Warnock alludes, Grealish has that “special magic” where he can produce something unexpected – just look at his wonderful strike against Burnley to see just that. The Red Devils have looked lacklustre going forward this season, scoring just 32 goals in 21 Premier League games, and appearing to heavily rely on counter-attacking football.

That’s all well and good against teams that want to come on to them like Manchester City or Chelsea, but they have come regularly unstuck against the division’s more defensive sides like Newcastle and Crystal Palace.
Having someone like Grealish in the side who can score from 25 yards, or pick a cute pass as evidenced by his five top-flight assists, can do wonders for United in an attacking sense.
