Newcastle United’s forgotten man Xisco scored a hatrick for the U21 side, to catch the eye, in an impressive performance as they thrashed Stoke City 5-1 last night.
This sent a message loud and clear to first team Manager, Alan Pardew, that some of the fringe players are knocking on the door of the starting XI, and are in good form.
In Particular, the former Spanish under 21 ace Xisco, will receive the majority of the plaudits. The striker commanded a fee of £5.7million four years ago, but has had a torrid time on Tyneside.
The player’s contract is set to finish at the end of the season, but Newcastle bosses would certaintly welcome the Spaniard finding the elusive form his transfer fee suggested he had.
The fans at the game expressed their delight and appreciation for the display of the former Deportivo La Coruna starlet, who has made a mere 8 first team appearances, since joining Newcastle in 2008.
The reserve coach Willie Donachie, was quick to praise the application and attitude of the marksman with the 26 year old impressing the Scotsman.
He went on to tell the club’s official website “Xisco deserved his goals because of his attitude, because of his enthusiasm and work and so that was really rewarding for the team, really: to see Xisco coming in and having a good attitude.
The 6ft 2in centre forward will be aware that with Newcastle also having a Europa League campaign to contend with this season, that if he impresses in the reserves he could have a chance to shine for the senior team, with fixtures piling up thick and fast.
